Cyndee Szymkowicz: Conversational English Classes
This workshop will be three hours packed with strategies for planning and guiding classes in conversational English. It will cover needs and wishes assessment, ice-breakers and games, choosing topics for discussion, when and how to make corrections, how to keep a few students from dominating the class, building conversational confidence and fluency, practice in asserting opinions, and keeping a conversation going by asking leading questions. You’ll have a chance to try some of these techniques yourself in active role-plays.
Cyndee Szymkowicz is an American with a background in theater and opera. She first acquired pedagogical training as an English teacher while studying voice in Milano, Italy, and throughout her performing career in Europe, always had her skill as an English teacher as a second source of income. In the last 15 years, she has concentrated on teaching English and her current themes are course development in understanding native speakers, clear pronunciation, and Train-the-Trainer. She has been a member of ELTAF since 2014.
