Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Time-Saving Tips for Busy Teachers with Laura Edwards

Achieving both efficiency and effectiveness is a challenge for many teachers, especially freelancers who are often not compensated for planning time. Technology can help, but managing resources can quickly become overwhelming. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore strategies to streamline your teaching.

Using the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” mantra, you’ll discover how to:

– Reduce time spent searching for materials,

– Reuse your favourite resources,

– Recycle student contributions for future lessons.

Participants should bring laptops or tablets to try out tools in three key areas:

1. Getting organised: Creating digital filing systems and lesson plans.

2. Creating materials: Adapting texts, finding images, recording audio.

3. Building a content library: Curating student-generated content.

We’ll also share practical strategies and help you develop a personalised plan for implementation, ensuring you leave with a clear path to greater efficiency and organisation in your teaching.

Biodata:

Laura Edwards: Based in Düsseldorf, I teach English at the university level and also work developing digital learning materials and assessments. I’ve a background in Education Leadership and Educational Technology, and I’m currently pursuing a doctorate in TESOL at the University of St. Andrews, where my research focuses on the experiences of freelance teachers in Germany. In my free time, I switch off all technology to dive into a good book.
