Get Ready for the World Cup – Teaching English through Football with Kirsten Wächter
With the World Cup 2026 in the US, Canada, and Mexico coming up very soon, you may want to include that topic in your classroom and wonder how. This is exactly what this workshop is about: you will learn how you can easily integrate the world’s most popular sport into your English lessons – no matter the level of your learners and which teaching context you are in. This workshop will provide practical activities that will only allow you to teach grammar in a new form, discuss current issues, and will give extra motivation to your students. In this workshop, we will explore making forecasts, exploring intercultural issues, reporting on the past and present and all with the help of the beautiful game. Participants will be able to get familiar with a number of exercises for several levels (A2-C1) such as mini-presentations and business games. And the best thing: you do not need to be an expert on football at all.
Biodata:
Kirsten Wächter has been a business English trainer since 1998. She focuses on teaching business communication, ESP and EAP and intercultural and leadership courses. She designs her own materials in these fields and provides teacher training, too.
