Beyond the Classroom – Redefining identity and professional growth in freelance ELT with Laura Edwards

As part of her PhD, Laura has produced a book that offers guidance, reflection and action tools for freelance teachers: BEYOND THE CLASSROOM – Redefining identity and professional growth in freelance ELT.

Rachel Bull from ELTAU and I would like to make Laura’s ideas accessible to all ELTA members by creating a supportive space to share experiences and talk through the tools together. Therefore, we’re offering a series of three evenings, each based on one chapter of the book.

We will break into small groups and discuss for 30 minutes, then shuffle the groups for another 30 minutes. The final 30 minutes will be a plenary – and we’re very excited to have Laura there with us as well.

In preparation for each evening, please make sure that you read and work through the corresponding section of the book. You can download the book as a free PDF until the end of December 2026 at https://lauraedwardselt.com/.
