Dealing with difficult students
“My needs are simple and few, thought Valentine. Food. Clothing.
A comfortable place to sleep. And no idiots.
But of course a world with no idiots would be lonely.
If she herself were even allowed there.”
― Orson Scott Card
We come into contact with a wide range of people on a daily basis. Some of them may prove to be a bit more difficult to handle than others. You may find yourself agitated, under threat or simply annoyed by another person. In most cases, cutting off the difficult person from your daily life is not an option. In these circumstances, you need to know how to deal with each individual according to their behaviour and habits while staying cool and maintaining your own emotional composure.
In this interactive workshop you will learn the importance of attitude and emotional control when dealing with difficult people. We will examine the topic from many angles and will learn effective techniques to deal with difficult people and tricky situations. We will explore a number of guidelines to improve your conversational skills and will go through different exercises to master those skills.
Workshop Objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Know their triggers
- Identify and use the right mindset when confronting others to minimize the effect of difficult encounters
- Conduct constructive conversations by staying focused and in control
- Respond to difficult people with confidence and ease
- Approach confrontation without intimidation
- Use cooperative language and rephrase negative messages
- Know and use the rules of emotion management
